The Vision

Wise Whales was imagined with traders and investors in mind. The goal was to give holders an edge in the wild west of Solana investing. The key idea was to focus on what the best traders in the Solana ecosystem were doing and present that information in real time.

Who are the Wise Whales?

The list of Wise Whales are updated weekly. The last six months of DeFi and NFT data is analyzed to find all of the current whale wallets on Solana. An algorithm is used to evaluate the earnings of all these wallets (literally every whale wallet). This has to be done carefully - you can’t just measure the value over time (as a simple example, you don’t want transfers into the wallet to count towards the earnings of the wallet). The Wise Whales are the selected based on their performance. 90% of whales are down over the last 6 months. Not all whales are created equal.

Information is Power

Don’t just follow the money..

If you invest in the Solana ecosystem, you probably follow the trends that drive the market. Are layer 1s doing well? Are DeFi tokens making a comeback? If you want to invest well, you need to see these trends before the masses.

This is not just about copy trading. Observe the behaviour of the WWs and build your own narrative of the market. Make your decisions with the most information possible.

• stable coins vs L1s vs low caps
• the sneaky DeFi positions
• the hottest and coldest NFT collections - what are the WWs buying and what are they dumping?
• what are the big moves the WWs have made in the past 24 hours?

The Data

DeFi and NFT data is tracked for all of the Wise Whales, updated every few minutes. This includes a growing list of the most important protocols in the Solana Ecosystem. The data is displayed in different time frames: Now, last 1H, 3H and 24H

• The DeFi section displays token holdings, swaps, LP positions, farming, lending/borrowing, staking and vault positions, spot orders and perpetual positions
  • Data is displayed in dropdown tables for each DApp, sorted by position size
  • Now shows the current token holdings and positions of the wallets
  • 1H, 3H, 24H and 1W display the swaps, and the net delta change in token holdings and DeFi positions over the timeframes

• The NFT section displays the holdings of the Wise Whales by collection
  • Now shows number of holdings, average entry price and current value
  • 1H, 3H, 24H and 1W display the buys, listings and sales made collection by collection
  • You can even sort by (buys - listings) and (buys - sales) to see the collections that are being bought and held by Wise Whales
• Summary gives some visualizations of the most important trends
  • Value delta tracks the performance of the WWs over time (not just the historical balances, it’s more complicated than that)
  • Hottest NFT collections
  • Visualizations of the token holdings and NFT holdings (treemaps for now)

• Aggregation - the data is displayed aggregated over all the Wise Whales (basically for all the positions, we sum up over all the whales). Why? Three reasons.

  1. We didn’t want to publicly dox all the successful whales on Solana.

  2. We don’t want them to know if they’re on our list.

  3. Most importantly, this is the easiest way to digest such a vast amount of data. Looking through every whale’s actions is tedious and doesn’t get at the big picture. Here’s a couple examples of the aggregated data.

     

     

Collection Deep Dive

Click into a collection to see the distribution over the Wise Whales in all the time frames! 10 buys in an hour can mean 10 different Wise Whales buying 1 or 1 Wise Whales buying 10. Don’t just rely on unique wallet count on your favourite site - holding distribution will be over clusters of wallets (see below) to get a better understanding of the real wallet distribution!

Identification and Clustering

We take a look at the wallet network to see which wallets belong to which whales. We keep this updated regularly making it difficult for whales to obfuscate their holdings and activity. We also label these wallet clusters:

• Wise Whales - of course this is an important label!
• Diamond handed - whales that generally hold their collections longer term and don’t take quick profits
